A video has gone viral on the web wherein a Pakistan fan was requested to not chant ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ throughout an ICC ODI World Cup 2023 match between Pakistan and Australia at Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Friday.
The 44-second-long viral video clip, shot from the stands of the cricket stadium, confirmed a uniformed personnel telling a person donning a Pakistan jersey that he cannot chant ‘Pakistan Zindabad’.
Shocked by the safety officer’s demand, the Pak fan was heard asking why he could not cheer for his nation when ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and different slogans are permitted. “I’ve come from Pakistan, and Pakistan is taking part in. If not ‘Pakistan Zindabad’, what else will I chant, brother?” the person was heard asking the personnel.
The travelling fan was then seen taking his cell phone to make a video and asking the officer to repeat his demand earlier than the digicam.
Because the fan stood to document, one other ID card-wearing official in civilian garments was seen requesting him to sit down down. In the meantime, the officer in uniform walked away after saying that he was going to seek the advice of his “officer” — presumably a senior officer.
The video, which The Week could not independently confirm, attracted reactions from many netizens.
