Whilst the costs of tomatoes proceed to soar throughout the nation, a vegetable vendor in Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi employed bouncers to guard tomatoes and maintain prospects at bay.
In response to information company PTI, the seller, Ajay Fauji, mentioned he determined to rent bouncers as the costs of tomatoes are too excessive and individuals are stealing tomatoes.
“Individuals are indulging in violence and even looting tomatoes. Since we’ve tomatoes within the store, we do not need any arguments, so we’ve bouncers right here,” Fauji was quoted as saying.
Tomatoes are being offered for Rs 160 per kilo, and individuals are solely shopping for 50 or 100 grams, he claimed.
Whereas the step taken by the seller might sound excessive, just a few days in the past, there was an incident of tomato theft reported from a farm in Karnataka. Thieves made away with tomatoes price Rs 2.7 lakh from a farm in Belur in Hassan district of Karnataka.
In a theft of a smaller scale, 20 kg of tomatoes was allegedly stolen from a store in Mahabubabad district in Telangana.
