Chief government officer of Qatar Airways Akbar Al Baker introduced that he’s stepping down from his position after being on the helm of affairs for 27 years.
“After 27 years of service, I’m writing to you to announce that I’ll step down from the Qatar Airways Group. In 1996, with a fleet of simply 5 plane, unwavering dedication, and a loyal and passionate staff, collectively we launched into a exceptional journey to aviation excellence,” Akbar Al Baker mentioned in a letter to workers, in response to The Occasions of India.
He’ll proceed to be the CEO until November 5.

In the meantime, Reuters reported that Badr al Meer would be the firm’s new CEO. At the moment, al Meer is the chief working officer of Doha’s Hamad worldwide airport.
Akbar Al Baker was appointed because the CEO in 1997, three years after the state-owned provider was launched.
