Aviation regulator DGCA has given in-principle nod for Air India and IndiGo to import a complete of 970 planes.
As a part of their enlargement plans, each carriers have positioned large plane orders. Whereas Air India will purchase 470 plane from Airbus and Boeing, IndiGo is to purchase 500 planes from Airbus.
“Directorate Normal of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has granted in-principle approval to Air India Ltd and Interglobe Aviation Ltd (IndiGo) for import of 470 and 500 plane, respectively,” Minister of State for Civil Aviation V.Ok. Singh stated in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha on Monday.
Air India will buy 210 planes from the A320 neo household, 140 from the B737 household and 40 from the A350 household.
Apart from, the service will purchase 50 B737-8s, 20 B787-9s and 10 B777-9s.
IndiGo will purchase 500 plane from the A320 neo household.
In response to a question, Singh stated the provision of parking slots is ensured on the time of grant of NOC (No Objection Certificates) for the precise import of plane.
“As per the induction plan of the airways, the plane are proposed to be imported through the interval 2023-2035. The airline operators have been suggested by DGCA to share their induction plan with airport operators for making certain the provision of parking slots,” he added.
In a separate written reply, the minister stated the present fleet dimension of plane endorsed on the Air Operator Certificates (AOC) of the scheduled operators within the nation is 729.
“As per the knowledge obtained by the Directorate Normal of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the whole fleet dimension of the most important home airways within the nation is predicted to be roughly 1,600 within the subsequent seven years,” he added.
