A male passenger assaulted crew and another passengers, and broken the rest room door onboard an Air India flight from Toronto to the nationwide capital on July 8, the airline stated on Wednesday.
The passenger, a Nepalese citizen, was handed over to safety companies on arrival on the airport in New Delhi.
“A passenger on flight AI188 of 08 July 2023 working Toronto-Delhi displayed unacceptable aggression throughout flight. He smoked within the toilet, broken the rest room door and assaulted crew and passengers, leaving them with minor accidents,” an Air India spokesperson stated in a press release.
In accordance with the spokesperson, the passenger was warned a number of instances by the crew and eventually needed to be restrained on his seat.
On arrival, the passenger was handed over to the safety companies for additional plan of action as per regulatory requirement and the matter has been reported to the Directorate Common of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the spokesperson stated.
In current instances, there have been rising incidents of unruly behaviour of passengers onboard flights.
On June 24, there was an incident of a male passenger behaving in a “repulsive method” onboard an Air India flight from Mumbai to Delhi.
