Protect Yourself from Discriminatory Acts

People may be of different color, race, national origin, age, gender, religion, and sexual orientation. However, such differences should not be the reasons to single out others from a group or organization. Exercising prejudice against an individual for his or her distinctive characteristic is deemed unacceptable under the common law.
Discrimination has always been an issue from the past and seems to be a matter of controversy up to the present because there are still some people who fail to recognize the equality among every individual as a part of society. This is often evident in workplaces where employers and employees alike, treat others differently and unfairly.
Dealing with discrimination in your workplace can be indeed troublesome since it could lead to some adverse effects such as being wrongfully terminated, demoted, harassed, or paid unfairly. Workers who experienced such bias in their work need to have defenses against their employer0s actions.
This is basically, the framework of employment anti-discrimination laws, to protect individuals of a certain group from unfair treatment and to provide them with equal opportunities in regards to employment. Without these protections, persons belonging to certain categories will not have fair chances in getting or maintaining a job.
